Foundation programs and workshops provide a range of rich learning and networking opportunities to teachers,
librarians, and library paraprofessionals in Grades K-8, parents, pre-school teachers, college professors and
their students, and the general public. With the exception of workshops designed for specific school systems,
these audiences can participate in almost all of the Foundation's programs throughout the year and build their
knowledge of children's literature.
Professional Development Points
The Foundation is a Massachusetts Professional Development Provider. In keeping with the new recertification
regulations issued by the Massachusetts Department of Education, the Foundation offers blocks of 10 Professional
Development Points (PDPs) which educators can earn by attending five or more of the programs offered by the
Foundation. These programs include: the Conversations with... Author/Illustrator discussions, and the Saturday
morning What's New in Children's Books? workshop.
The recertification regulations stipulate that all candidates for PDPs must complete a program assessment form.
When the completed form is returned to the Foundation, members will receive their PDPs by mail.
